What are timing pulleys used for?
Timing pulleys work with toothed (timing) belts to transmit slip-free, synchronous motion between two shafts. Unlike flat belts, the belt teeth sit in the pulley teeth, so no motion is lost; this makes them the choice where positioning matters.

Production details
The profile of the belt the pulley will run with (e.g. T5, T10, AT10, HTD 5M, 8M, XL, L) and the number of teeth must be known. The pulley width, flanges if needed and hub dimensions are set according to the belt width. Pulleys are usually made of aluminium or steel.
Questions about Timing pulleys
How do I find out the belt profile?
The profile and length are usually printed on the back of the belt (e.g. 600-5M-15). If the print can't be read, photograph the belt teeth next to a ruler; we will determine the profile from the tooth pitch.
Should I choose aluminium or steel?
Aluminium pulleys are light and sufficient for medium loads. For high torque or abrasive environments, steel pulleys last longer. Tell us the operating conditions and we will advise.
Can you make pulleys in non-standard sizes?
Yes. Pulleys with a number of teeth, hub or bore size not found in standard catalogues can be made from a drawing or sample.
